Reading, Writing & Math must be Top Priority!
BUDGET REFORM
The main duty of the Public School Board is to approve the budget.
​
But for far too long, the Board has voted for budgets that waste tax dollars on low-quality programs that have not improved reading, writing, or math scores.
​
As your advocate on the Board, I will only vote to approve a budget that includes high quality programs and higher achievement standards for students.
​
TEACHER SUPPORT
The public school system has made it difficult for teachers to do their job. Overloaded with paperwork and too many subjects, our local teachers have not been given the tools of quality training and mentor-teachers.
​
Mentor Teachers are educators who have the knowledge and skills to effectively coach and support new and resident teachers in their district.
​
I will fight to provide mentor-teacher opportunities and empower teachers to bring order back to the classroom.
​
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Student success is nearly impossible without parents being involved. Communication between the system and the family must be a two-way street.
The school board also has a duty to treat parents and all community members with respect, which means listening to parents’ concerns and answering questions as accurately and honestly as possible.
If elected to the school board, I will not “stack the deck” against parents!
